This
category is for younger people who want to have fun and learn the basic
skills in Surf Life Saving. Commonly known as "Nippers," it is
designed to provide an educational experience in a wide range of skills
within an aquatic environment.

Active Cadet Member (13-15
years)

Active
Cadet members must be a between 13 and 15 years of age. Cadets begin with
the introduction of the Surf Rescue Certificate at 13 years. This award
is the minimum requirement to become a surf life saver. In competition
cadets compete senior competition in the U/16
age group.

Active Junior Member ( 15 -17 years

Active
Juniors are aged between 15 and 17 years of age, and hold a Bronze Medallion.
They are involved in all areas of Surf Life Saving, including full
patrol duties.

Active Senior Member ( 18 years +

Seniors are aged 18 and over and hold the minimum requirement of a Bronze
Medallion. This category can progress to more advance levels of
Association Awards such as Advanced Resuscitation, Inflatable Rescue Boat
Drivers and Training Officers Certificate to name a few.
